The following comments were received from some of the participants during our first town hall meeting, held on Jan 23, 2010 at Mt. Everest restaurant. It was the first step but a very strong beginning to work towards NAC's vision. Thanks to those who participated and gave us their feedback in writing. We had distributed cue cards to participants to write down their thoughts as we conducted the meeting. The feedbacks have been slightly edited to complete sentences and to translate Nepali words into English.

That would be the only way I will support this whole heartedly. Why do we need 2-4 acres? We can accomplish much in less land too. If cost of land in Chicago area becomes prohibitive – let’s rethink doing something closer to the city.

I suggest assigning group of people to conduct this kind of town hall meeting in pocket areas of IL who are out of radar. It is important to study the modalities of other successful cultural centers how they operate/sustain.

We know we have lot of talents in our community. I.e. doctors, lawyers, accountants, beauticians, etc. We should compile a list of these people if we don’t have already and try to convince them to donate portion of their time in providing services to our community and others. This will have two fold effect overall. First, portion of their services can go toward supporting our bigger cause. Second we can start to network amongst ourselves and keep each other in an event we have catastrophic event in our lives i.e. jobless, death, etc. or any other personal necessity of these services. We should start to volunteer our time as a group to give exposure to our cause while keeping causes that are not so called “Nepali Cause” for example Habitat for Humanities, Soup Kitchen, etc. This will open the door for open communication between various groups which will help us get them to join our cause. I will provide my service to any committee.
